The gates of Cairo were the first beginning of the era of stone buildings in Cairo, including Bab al-Futuh, which was established by Minister Badr al-Jamali, to control the entrances to Fatimid Cairo, and was built in the Fatimid era in the Byzantine architectural style.

Bab Al-Futuh is a short walk from Bab Al-Nasr near Al-Hakim Mosque, God willing. This gate was constructed with its towers of stone. The building block is 22.85 meters wide, 25 meters deep and 22 meters high, and a third of the building block protrudes outside the walls. The remaining two are located inside the city.

Bab Al Futuh consists of two towers; With rounded facades, and the entrance block, which is a deep cavity between the two towers, the entrance is topped by a semicircular arch with a beveled edge, and it is decorated with floral and geometric motifs, and the door opening is located in the front of the cavity, and the building of the two towers is solid to two-thirds of the height, and the solid part of each of the towers is surmounted by a defense room On the side of each of the towers, there are two large openings that revolve around their two openings ornaments made of small cylinders, and as is the case in the gates of Cairo, they are decorated with arrows and holes for pouring boiling liquids on aggressive enemies.
